jolegat-gloger-icon-scottRunning Retrospectives is NOT an art, but a craftsmanship. Effective facilitation of meetings and retrospectives is possible for everybody. I want to give you 7 secrets here:

  1. Believe that the people in your team did the best they could during the Sprint.
  2. First collect facts. There are several ways available to do this, but please, first collect facts.
  3. Do not discuss. Use facilitation techniques to collect facts instead of talking, talking, talking.
  4. Create a good atmosphere first. Make everyone realize your success.
  5. Acknowledge it!
  6. Start a brainstorming session to find things (process, behavior, …) to improve in the future.
  7. Focus on the future! Separate issues the team has to improve from issues the ScrumMaster shall improve.

There are more ideas what we can do to improve Retrospectives. Stay tuned.
