Scrum Roles Overview

Januar 4th, 2010 · No Comments · Scrum

A memorable way to identify the separate roles in Scrum is to compare everybody involved with a team, producing a movie.

The 3 Roles in Scrum (describing the “Scrum Team” itself):

  • Scrum Master: The Film Director
  • Team: The Actors
  • Product Owner: The Storywriter

3 Additional Roles (I use to show how to handle other critical stakeholders who are outside the “Scrum Team” and normally not handled in “Standard Scrum”):

  • Manager: The Studio Boss
  • Customer: The Producer
  • End User: The Audience

To demonstrate that in my seminars, I use our comics “The Scrumlies”. I thought, they might be useful for you too. So I am going to show them to you within the next weeks, one by one.

By the way… for everyone who was wondering, why our Advent calendar story was about producing a movie, now it will become clear.
